The Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare has said the will of God shall prevail when questioned about her running mate ambitions.

The Akufo-Addo appointee has been strongly lobbying for the running mate slot to Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia but when confronted she coiled back.

According to her, her focus is on electing a flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) saying she has not heard of orchestrated calls for her to be running mate.

She sounded uninterested in the position despite thanking those projecting her for the post. “Any name that comes up as a running mate disregard it, rather let’s lift him first as flag bearer. I have not heard of any name for the running mate position.

“Wherever you’ve heard that I am the running mate, I thank them. But I’ve not heard that yet.

“If you don’t have a flag bearer, you don’t have a running mate. My focus is to get a good flag bearer who will ‘break the 8’. The will of God will manifest,” Madam Osei-Opare told journalists at the NPP Headquarters last week.

The NPP Primaries came an end over the weekend with Bawumia obtaining 118,210 votes representing 61.47%, beating his main contender Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a Member of Parliament for Assin Central who obtained 71,996 votes representing 37.41%
