The construction of Bechem-Dwomo-Tachimantia-Akumadan road has been a major issue of discussion for some time now as far as President Akufo Addo’s promise on the ‘Year of Roads’ is concerned. The road which was captured in NDC’s green book as part of the Cocoa Roads project initiated by the erstwhile NDC and John Mahama administration was under construction but construction processes were made to stop for auditing and due process on the project when NPP took over in 2016.

The road was later awarded to Rango Constructions Ltd by the Nana Addo-led NPP government with the lobbying qualities of the Tano South Member of Parliament, Honorable Benjamin Sekyere to reconstruct the trench road from Bechem through to Akumadan for effective locomotion of vehicles and pedestrians.

The construction which is currently at its significant stage of completion has put a lot of smiles on the faces of NPP executives, members,s and the entire Tano South residents for the industrious work by President Akufo Addo and the MP to ensure the road is well constructed to aid transport.

The National Democratic Congress as part of politicians’ eagerness for political points has been claiming credit for the construction of the said road as being the initiator of the whole process.

Speaking to Honorable Appiah Joseph, an Assembly member for Atɛkyɛm electoral area, a suburb of Bechem who doubles as a communication team member of the NPP on a discussion segment of High Radio Breakfast show dubbed High Morning Breeze chaired by Kwaku Mensah Abrampa stated categorically that the NDC deserves no credit in the construction of the Bechem-Dwomo-Tachimantia -Akumadan road as they keep claiming

indicating that NDC brought in a contractor who stayed on the same road for some time without being able to construct it.

He chastised the NDC as the only political party in Ghana that boasts of uncompleted projects instead of completed ones and so the NDC doesn’t deserve any credit as far as the above-mentioned road construction is concerned.

On his part, Mr. Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong, secretary of the NDC in the Tano South constituency debunked the statement made by the NPP communicator explaining that NDC has a history of all road projects in the constituency.

He revealed that NDC was the brain behind the highway from Kumasi to Bechem through to Sunyani, the double road at Tachimantia was also constructed during the tenure of Honorable Grace Boatye as MP disclosing that the construction of Bechem -Tachimantia-Akumadan road was commenced by the then Tano south Member of parliament, now National women organizer of the NDC Honorable Dr. Hannah Louisa Bissue and the NDC which was halted by the NPP government for value for audit and so the road could have been completed by now if the contractors were not dismissed.
