The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has revealed in their report that about 835,000 of men in Ghana are uncircumcised.

According to the GSS, this equates to 5% of the total male population of the 2020 Population and Housing Census

Speaking at the dissemination of the 2022 Ghana Demographic and Health Survey report on HIV/AIDS And Health Insurance in Accra, the Acting Director of Demography at the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), Godwin Odei Gyebi said the remaining percentage of the uncircumcised is a contributing factor and major risk to the spread of the HIV in the country.

He added that this comprehensive array of indicators will furnish valuable insights into the health and well-being of the populace.

He however mentioned that the 95% of the circumcised men shows a good sign hence the need to intensify education to aid in assessing progress towards Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) targets.
