The ruling New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) aim of breaking the eight in the 2024 general elections is likely to fail as its Greater Accra Regional Secretary, Odalai Packer’s conduct continues to infuriate party supporters who have vowed to vote against the party in the coming elections.

He has been accused of creating confusion among party supporters within the Anyaa-Sowuyuom Constituency.

The NPP’s Greater Accra Regional Secretary, according to information, demonstrated his uncouth action during an election to select a candidate to contest the 2024 assembly elections to be held in October.

Odalai Packer has been accused of attacking one Henry Boahen who was also hoping to contest the Assembly elections in the Olebu Electoral Area within the Anyaa-Sowutuom Constituency.

This paper gathered that Mr. Packer stormed the area with ten ably-built machomen and allegedly attacked Mr. Henry Boahen who was believed to have the support of all for the position.

Information indicates that the party’s Regional Secretary was rallying behind the incumbent Assembly man and saw Mr. Boahen as a serious threat to him and to his preferred candidate.

The sudden action by Mr. Packer and his thugs, according to information, would go a long way to have a negative impact on the NPP in both the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.

Narrating the sudden incident to journalists, Mr. Boahen, said “We were in the middle of the election when Packet and some ten machomen who were fully armed arrived and declared that they would supervise the elections. We all protested against that decision but they started threatening everybody in the hall with cutlasses and shockers.”

They could not understand why Packer, being the Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the NPP did not visit other areas where elections were conducted but chose to visit Olebu.

According to them, Packer visited the Olebu area just to ensure that his preferred candidate wins the elections and when that did not go well, he chose to launch attacks on the winning candidate.

Meanwhile, when contacted, Mr. Packer disclosed that he was called by some party Executives to rush to the scene to ensure that peace prevailed during and after the elections.

“I did not sort the election papers but only did the counting of the ballot papers as a Regional Secretary of the party,” he stated.

He alleged that the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area and the Ga Central Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) were behind the misunderstanding that ensued during the elections and claimed they were out there just to tarnish his (Packer) good reputation.

Mr. Packer further stated that as a Regional Secretary he always moved with bodyguards for his personal safety and not to have them attack people.
