The parliamentary candidate hopeful for the Tano South constituency in the Ahafo, Dr. Nana Agyemang Prempeh who doubles as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Energy and Natural Resource (UENR) Sunyani has hinted that he is poise to intensify the education system in the municipality and the Ahafo region at large when given the mandate to serve as a member of parliament in the constituency.

 

Speaking in an interview with Obaahemaa Akua Asantewaa on High Radio Morning Show, Dr. Prempeh indicated that he hopes to lobby the government and other stakeholders for the upgrade of the Teacher Training College situated at Bechem into attaining a University status which according to him will raise qualified and experience university graduates who will highly contribute to the development of Tano south and Ghana at large stressing that, when the university status is obtained, it shall benefit farmers, landlords, and other businesses since many people will attend the school from far and near.

 

He added that he will ensure the construction of a Nursing training college in the Tano South municipal to produce more health workers to save lives. He stressed that he will provide scholarships to brilliant but needy students to further their university education in and outside the country.

 

Dr. Prempeh disclosed his plans to strengthen STEM education within the municipality Because STEM has been a major boost to all the developed countries indicating that he will institute a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) competition between the schools in Tano South which he said will facilitate innovation and generations of ideas for problem-solving.

 

The parliamentary candidate hopeful spoke about youth unemployment which he said is affecting a lot of youth hence he will offer entrepreneurship opportunities for the youths because the development of every nation depends on the youths, also he will make farming very attractive to the youth to ensure that many are enrolled in the agriculture industry adding that he will offer opportunities to most of the youths to be enrolled in apprenticeship programs to ameliorate youth unemployment rate in the municipality and the country at large.

 

He finally disclosed that as former president John Mahama recently indicated that his next government will focus on the completion of uncompleted projects, so shall his tenure in office as a member of parliament be in ensuring that all uncompleted projects are attended to.
