The Ashanti regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has challenged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to prove to Ghanaians how they intend to win the 2024 general elections if they cannot even organise their own presidential and parliamentary primaries.

His question comes on the back of an Application for Interlocutory Injunction served the Electoral Commission of Ghana to restrain it from supervising the conduct of the Presidential and Parliamentary Primaries due to some alleged anomalies with the party’s register to be used for the elections.

Dr. Kwabena Duffour has filed an interlocutory injunction against the party’s upcoming presidential and parliamentary primaries.

In an interview with Wontumionline.com, Chairman Wontumi as the NPP regional Chairman is popularly referred to stated that “I wonder how a party in opposition hoping to return to power can convince Ghanaians that they are ready if they can’t even organise a simple internal election”.

The Electoral Commission (EC), through its Chairperson served notice to stay out from supervising the National Democratic Congress’ Presidential and Parliamentary primaries until all internal issues are resolved amicably.

…in order that we are not cited for contempt, the Commission has taken the decision not to supervise the conduct of the Presidential and Parliamentary elections until after the determination of the case by the court. We thought we should bring this to your attention”, Mrs. Jean Mensa said as one reason the EC can’t suprivise the elections slated for Saturday 13th May 2023.
