The 66th independence day celebration has generated a lot of mixed feelings with a section of Ghanaians calling for its boycott while others say its celebration is essential.

Speaking in an interview with Mr. Samuel Boateng, a political analyst, he said that the continuous celebration of independence day has nothing profitable to offer Ghanaians.

He noted that Ghana at 66years of independence cannot boast of any developmental projects that impact the lives of the citizenry in response to the years gained after independence stressing that though the country has chalked some successes but they are not to expectations because a nation of 66years must have been more successful than the current state of Ghana.

He bemoaned how our forefathers would sadly react to the deepened retrogression of the country as a result of bad political leadership if they had the opportunity to come back to life again.

He added that the continuous celebrations of Independence day must seize with immediate effect and weep instead because the deficits in education, health, agriculture, and another sector of development during the tenure of Kwame Nkrumah still exist hence it is unnecessary for independence day to ne celebrated while we can’t just of anything beneficial to the country.

Mr. Samuel Boateng added that Ghanaians have done their part in the development by supporting government policies be it taxation or others and so it is left to the political leaders to implement policies that will enhance development.

He explained that there must be systems in place to check the conduct of Ghanaians and and strengthen the developmental ideas of our leaders which according to him will help the nation achieve successes.
