The Electoral Commission of Ghana has said it will be unable to supervise the upcoming presidential and parliamentary primaries of the opposition National Democratic Congress slated on Saturday, May 13, 2023.

The commission said it had been served with an injunction filed by Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, the main contender of former President John Dramani Mahama for the flagbearership slot.

Chairperson of the elections governing body, Jean Mensa, announced in a statement after a meeting held on Wednesday, May 10, that “in order that we are not cited for contempt, the Commission has taken the decision not to supervise the conduct of the Presidential and Parliamentary elections until after the determination of the case by the court.”
