Contesting consummate politician like Kennedy Agyapong was tough – Sammi Awuku

The campaign manager for the Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia campaign team, Sammi Awuku has acknowledged that they knew a contest against someone like Kennedy Agyapong was going to be tough.

He says Kennedy Agyapong is a consummate politician who has been in the political space for years and cannot be written off.

The National Lottery Authority (NLA) Director General, who was speaking on Accra-based Joy News, said apart from the number of years Kennedy Agyapong has been a Member of Parliament, he is a great campaigner, and that played a key role in the elections.

“If the signal is not strong, you can have a showdown. All respect to Kennedy Agyapong; he did very well. I knew that it was a tough contest. I kid you not. Ken is a consummate politician; he’s been through the rugged nature of our politics, and he’s been multiple times Member of Parliament holding on to his seat. He’s also been one serious advocate of reforms.

Aside from that, he is a great campaigner. I know both gentlemen. I campaigned with Ken prior to 2016 and since 2016. I’ve campaigned with Veep prior to 2016 and post-2016, and Veep can campaign on a single-day move from Accra to Bolga. Ken can equally campaign from Wa down to Accra. So I don’t underestimate their strength. I think there was a great showing from Ken. Congratulations to Ken and his team,” he said.
