Mr. Bernard Allotey Jacobs, former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) has alleged that Speaker, Rt Hon Alban Bagbin conspired with NDC Members of Parliament (MPs) to orchestrate chaos in Parliament.

His remarks come in the wake of recent events that have drawn both local and international scrutiny, highlighting the growing tensions within Ghana’s legislative body during an interview on Peace FM monitored by MyNewsGH.com

Speaking passionately about the state of affairs in Parliament, the former Central Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) emphasized the need for order and integrity.

“When the NDC MPs seized the majority side in Parliament, Speaker Bagbin should have had the courage to ask them to return to their rightful seats and restore sanity,” he declared. His comments reflect a deep frustration with what he sees as a disregard for parliamentary decorum.

Jacobs continued to criticize the NDC’s approach to securing a majority, arguing that they must focus on genuine engagement with the electorate rather than attempting to manipulate the parliamentary structure.

“If the NDC truly wants to claim the majority, they need to go out and campaign effectively to earn more votes,” he advised. “Power is not taken by force; it is earned through the support of the people.”

He further urged the party to prioritize internal unity and strategic planning, stating, “The NDC must put their house in order if they wish to win future elections. Resorting to crude tactics only undermines our credibility.”

Jacobs’ emphasis on a structured campaign comes as the party gears up for the next electoral battle, where gaining public trust will be crucial.
