The Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) popularly known as Chairman Wontumi described KKD whose fame soared in the 80’s as a man whose “emotion is bigger than the sense in his head.”
“The only achievement Kwasi Kyei Darkwah fondly KKD in the broadcasting and entertainment industry has made in life since 1999, is to buy hats, suites with a matching ties and walking stick to put a swag in his gait”
Chairman Wontumi slammed the self-acclaimed King of DJ’s who said in a recent interview that NPP gurus who have been chanting “Breaking the Eight”, a mantra resonating frequently in NPP circles, as “lacking common sense.”
But Chairman Wontumi apparently taking the rebuke personal, challenged KKD to capitalize on his popularity to establish businesses to employ the youth instead of investing substantially in his clothing line for his personal use, which has no impact on the country’s economic growth.
Chairman Wontumi whose throw back was contained in an interview he granted the host of Wontumi TV/Radio’s Privilege Morning show broadcast live from Kumasi on Friday.
In his outbursts he teased that, “the only achievement credited to KKD the creation of boutiques in his room in which he stocks to the brim imported hats of various brands, assorted ties and expensive designer suites for his personal use. He hasn’t opened any business to employ anybody as some of us have done He is only interested in investing in his good looks.”
The NPP Ashanti regional Chairman revealed that he knew KKD when he was only 10 years old , a time the once famous top class show host was almost a cult figure in the Ghanaian broadcast and entertainment industry .
While I have matured to become a business magnate who has established an enviable media empire that offers employment for the benefit of several unemployed Ghanaian youth KKD still has not contributed anything to the national economy especially, in terms of job creation.
“You have to apologize for saying that the person who coined the phrase ‘Breaking the 8’ lacks common sense, from 1999 till date I have opened two TV stations and two radio stations while you continue to invest in imported fashionable branded clothes, buying ‘Yonmo’ just to look good in the eyes of people ”, Chairman Wontumi calls that ‘Self Boutique’.
