A former Ghana Ambassador to the United States of America and Elder of the National Democratic Congress Ambassador Daniel Ohene Agyekum has rubbished a description of former President John Dramani Mahama by private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu as dead in leadership.

Martin Kpebu, a vociferous pundit of President Akufo Addo stated that the President’s blunder of the Ghanaian economy has given an uplifting perspective to his predecessor John Dramani Mahama who was viewed as a pioneer with a terrible record of debasement.

“This is the man (John Mahama) we booted out and we thought corruption was over but Akufio-Addo came and single-handedly resurrected him because he came to do worst, this is something that we will grapple with for a long time in our history,” the private legal practitioner opined.

In response to Mr Kpebu’s assertions, Ambassador Daniel Ohene Agyekum intimated that the description of former President John Dramani Mahama as ‘dead’ was preposterous and completely unfounded.

He noted that the former President and now flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress has a good performance record, hence it is out of place for any comparison to be made between him and President Akufo Addo.

“Who is this lawyer speaking that way, I am sure he does not know Mahama. How can you say Mahama is dead and has only been resurrected by Nana Addo.

Mahama in 2016 was not a match for the NPP and time has vindicated him for all the good things he did for this country. The results of 2020 if not for the machinations by the NPP, he would have been president is that the sign of a dead man,” Mr Ohene Agyekum said in an interview on Kumasi-based Ultimate Fm.

He stressed that “Mahama has been a living testimony and has been alive to the politics of this country since 2008 and that is a fact unless this lawyer was not in this country.

Who dares compare the abysmal performance of Nana Addo to Mahama? These people are just stealing our resources and Mahama never did that”.

President John Dramani Mahama is set to lead the opposition NDC into the 2024 elections after securing a landslide victory in the party’s presidential primaries.

In an acceptance speech after his election as flagbearer, Mr Mahama assured of his resolve to galvanize and mobilize resources for the party to support campaigns and expressed high-level confidence in the victory of the party
