The newly enskined North America Dema Naa (Entertainment Chief), Basha Ibrahim Iddrisu, has paid homage to the Overlord of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Abukari II, at the Gbewa Palace in Yendi.

The visit was to formally introduce himself to the Yaa Naa and seek his blessings and guidance for an impending campaign against the use of hard drugs among the youth in the Northern Region.

The campaign christened, “Naabiegu Against Drugs” is scheduled to begin with health walks on August 23, 2024, and the main event will take place on August 24, 2024, at the forefront of Tamale based Zaa Multimedia.

It is expected to raise awareness about drug abuse among the populace particularly among the youth and its associated health consequences. The campaign would also highlight on trafficking and its negative impact on the socioeconomic growth and development of the country.

Mr. Basha Ibrahim in his remarks briefed the Yaa Naa on his plans to use the traditional Naabiegu dance to sensitize the youth about the dangers of drug abuse and trafficking and emphasized the need for the collective responsibility of all relevant stakeholders in the region to address the growing problem of drug and substance abuse among young people.

He used the opportunity to present a 70-inch smart TV to the Gbewaa Palace to enhance the entertainment and communication facilities in the palace.

The Dagbon King in his remarks commended Naa Basha for the initiative and pledged his support for the campaign. He urged the youth to stay away from drugs and focus on their education and personal development.

From the Gbewaa Palace, Chief Basha Ibrahim Iddrisu and his entourage proceeded to Karaga to introduce himself to the paramount Chief of Karaga, Naa Natogma Abdulai and share his plans to combat drug abuse in the Karaga district.

The Karaga Naa after warmly receiving the team lauded Dema Naa Basha for such worthy intervention to address the menace among the youth.

Naa Natogma promised to collaborate with the Entertainment Chief to ensure the success of the campaign.
