The Sege District Chief Executive, Sampson Tetteh Kuampa has refuted reports that two drwoned Ada SHS students who met their untimely death in the Ada River on Sunday went to fetch water.

According to him, the deceased students rather went swimming.

There had been earlier reports that the duo went to fetch water at the river as a result of shortage of potable water in the school following the Akosombo Dam spillage.

Speaking to Starr News Tema Correspondent, Joseph Atarika, the DCE confirmed there’s a water shortage facing the school, but debunked claims that the deceased students went in search of water.

“Students of Adasco, a school at Ada East very close to the river went to bath in the water and the water took them away. This is not the first time such incident has happened to people around the river. That is the same area Castro and the lady went and they drowned. So this is not the first time, it always happens.”
