A lecturer at the Ghana School of Law, who also doubles as a member of the legal committee  for the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Lawyer Wayoe Ghanamannti, says, the party will dissolve its injuction against the Electoral Commission (EC), if their demands are met.

According to the lawyer, the EC can proceed with the Ejisu by-election slated for April 30, if one Esther Osei stays away from the election.

This comes in the wake of an interlocutory injuction filed by the CPP to halt the scheduled by-election, stating that the party has not endorsed one Esther Osei to represent the party as a parliamentary candidate.

Speaking in an interview on Wontumi TV, on 25th April, 2024, he emphatically stated that, the party has not elected anyone to partake in the by-election.

“The injuction is to make the EC understand that, if the right thing is done, it can successfully have the by-election. If the Ashanti regional chairman for our party, Emmanuel Gallo has not appointed anyone to represent the party, why is the EC doing otherwise? He questioned?

He also urged the EC to agree to their terms to enable the facilitation of the by-election.

“The EC should listen to us. We have not gone for an executive conference to elect Esther Osei. The Central Committee has also not elected anything so if the by-election can hold, the EC must adhere to our order” he added.
