Former Attorney General and Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu, has called out President John Mahama, accusing his administration of using lies and propaganda to mislead Ghanaians about the controversial raid on former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta’s residence.

In a strongly-worded statement, Amidu alleged that the raid, led by Richard Jakpa—who was appointed Director of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat—was unlawful and politically motivated.

“Jakpa had no authority to lead such an operation under the Security and Intelligence Agencies Act,” Amidu stated.

He also questioned why a warrant of arrest was issued for Ofori-Atta despite the government being aware of his absence from the country.

“The government has records of his movements, so why the deception?” he asked, demanding an independent inquiry into the incident.

Amidu further criticized the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, accusing him of engaging in “shameful” conduct to serve political interests.

He warned Mahama to take responsibility and act. “If you are not part of this coup mentality, then crack the whip and redeem your image,” he urged.
