Policy think tank Solidare Ghana is demanding that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Government led by President Akufo-Addo tell Ghanaians the cost it incurred in organising the parliamentary by-election in the Assin North Constituency.
The policy think tank described the recently held by-election as avoidable and needless, stressing that it is important the Government accounts fully to the public how much was used to conduct the by-election.
In a press release signed by its Executive Director Benjamin Essuman, Solidaire Ghana lamented the loss in manpower, costs incurred by state agencies such as the Ghana Police Service, the Armed Forces of Ghana and the Electoral Commission of Ghana.
It asserted that given the cash-strapped nature of economy, it is unconscionable that the Government expended so much on such a needless and avoidable by-election.
