A group calling itself Zisung Youth affiliated to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Sagnarigu constituency have threatened to vote against the party’s 2024 Parliamentary candidate, Mr. Atta Issah.
“We will not vote Atta Issah today; we will not vote Atta Issah tomorrow. We don’t want him and if you don’t remove him, we will not vote him” one of the irate group members stated.
“This is the same way we lost the Kumbungu seat, the Tamale North constituency, Savelugu, Karaga, Mion and the Sagnarigu constituency will also go down in 2024” he added.
Another group member, Sanatu Abdulai, stated the Sagnarigu Member of Parliament, ABA Fuseini, has labored for the NDC over the years and still serving the party in opposition.
“…Now that the party is coming back to power, some bigwigs of the party have come to unseat him. We want to tell them that we will also ensure the party loses the Sagnarigu seat” she said.
Madam Sanatu further alleged the supporters of the elected Parliamentary candidate threatened prior to the NDC presidential and parliamentary primaries to vote against the party in next year’s general elections, if ABA Fuseini had won the primaries.
Therefore, she noted as sympathizers of ABA Fuseini, they will go ahead to vote against Mr. Atta Issah who was elected on May 13 as the NDC 2024 Parliamentary candidate.
Mr. Issah obtained eight hundred and one (801) votes against three hundred and thirty-three (333) votes garnered by the incumbent MP, Alhaji ABA Fuseini.
“We want them to bear in mind that it was delegates that voted for Atta Issah in the primaries but we, the masses of the party are still solidly behind ABA Fuseini because we want development and not money. We don’t televisions, motorbikes and fridges, we want our development and so No ABA, No Vote” Madam Sanatu added.
Meanwhile, the disgruntled NDC members have vowed to vote massively for Madam Felicia Tetteh for the governing New Patriotic Party to win the Sagnarigu constituency.
“…But they said Felicia won 44 ballot boxes in 2020, we will ensure she wins the seat hands down this time round and the party will know that we’re still solidly behind ABA Fuseini” the group vowed.
