Prove Bawumia is using state funds for campaigns – Kennedy Agyapong challenged

New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant, Kennedy Agyapong has been challenged to prove allegations to the effect that Vice President Mahamudu Bawmia is using state funds for his campaign.

A leading member of Bawumia’s Campaign Team Sammi Awuku who was reacting to the allegations leveled by the Assin Central lawmaker, indicated that his claims are unsubstantiated and should treated with the contempt it deserve.

“What is the prove the Vice President is campaigning for the party’s flagbeearership with state resources?  You cannot make such claims and get away with it. I know they have launched an app and soliciting funds for the campaign.”, he argued.

Asked on Accra-based Peace FM if the Vice President uses his official vehicles and would be given state security during the campaign tour he responded “Let’s be clear, former President Mahama will be campaigning next year for the presidency with all the protocols accorded him. He is entitled to a dispatch, he is entitled to state security. The fact that Dr. Bawumia is contesting to be Vice flagbearer does still not mean he is not Vice President. President Mahama in 2024 will not ask the state to withdraw state protocols given to him because he is contesting”

Mr. Kennedy Agyapong has consistently claimed the Vice President is using state funds for his campaigns but has not been able to substantiate the allegation.

Sammi Awuku however observes that the fact that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia enjoys certain privileges and is not enough ground for his opponents to level such accusations against him.
