Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia (DMB) paid a working visit to the Vatican today and had the honour and privilege to meet with His Holiness Pope Francis, Italy as part of efforts to deepen ties between Ghana and the two states.

This landmark meeting afforded me the opportunity to discuss many national and global issues with Pope Francis and to strengthen Ghana’s longstanding relationship with the Vatican State and the Pope.

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia (DMB) also had a meeting with the Vatican Secretary for relations with States and International Organisations, H.E Paul Richard Gallagher and Ghana’s pride, Cardinal Peter Appiah Turkson, who was kind to show Ghana’s delegation around the Vatican.
Pope Francis prayed for Ghana and her leaders.

In a statement issued yesterday, Dr. Gideon Boako, spokesperson for Dr. Bawumia, indicated that the Vice President will have bilateral discussions with His Holiness Pope Francis.

 

The Vice President’s diplomatic tour signifies Ghana’s commitment to fostering dialogue and cooperation with international partners, as well as promoting values of unity and mutual understanding on a global scale.

He is expected to return to Ghana on Thursday April 25, 2024.
