The latest case in point is the impact H.E Dr Bawumia had on the fortunes of the NPP in the previous elections the party won, ie 2016 and 2020. It’s important that the party does an extensive search taking into consideration all important factors in settling on a suitable candidate for the position of running mate to Dr. Bawumia.
It has been almost a tradition for NPP to select a ‘political novice’ to partner its flagbearer. The uniqueness of the upcoming 2024 elections makes almost compulsory for the party to select a running mate who is an out-and-out politician. In my assessment, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as Napo, emerges as the ideal candidate for the position of running mate alongside Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for several compelling reasons;
First of all, Napo’s extensive political journey makes him the most ideal candidate to partner Dr Bawumia for victory in the 2024 elections. marked by his tenure in various ministerial positions and as a Member of Parliament, underscores his seasoned expertise and invaluable political acumen, making him a strong and experienced contender for the role.His background in medicine and public health signifies not just academic excellence but also an invaluable perspective crucial in addressing pressing issues, particularly in healthcare policies and educational reforms. His proven track record, notably during his term as the Minister of Education, exemplifies a proactive approach in implementing reforms, indicating his potential to drive transformative policies beneficial to the nation.
Furthermore, Napo’s unwavering allegiance and loyalty to the party make a compelling case for his candidacy. His allegiance, combined with his rich experience and fresh perspectives, could contribute significantly to the party’s success.The aspect of regional and ethnic representation is pivotal in selecting a running mate.
