Opemsuo destools three chiefs in Ashanti Region

The occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has destooled two chiefs in the Ashanti region for misconduct. His Royal Majesty rebuked these erring traditional leaders when he sat in state at the Manhyia Palace.

The chiefs are Nana Osaforo Koto II, who is the chief of Bekwai Abodom and Yaw Duah, the chief of Aduamoa, Kodie

In a separate video recording of the proceedings, which have been sighted by The Chronicle , the Asantehene is heard accusing the Abodom regent of negligence in his seven year rule.

“I gave you Abodom for you to take care of it for me, but you could not do anything in the last seven years of your stewardship so you cannot be the Regent of Abodom,” Otumfuo said in Asante Twi and translated into English by The Chronicle.

Asantehene told the destooled chief that the removal of his native sandals was a testament of the fact that he was no more a chief.

Opemsuo equally asked the Abontedom chief of Abodom not to call himself a chief, since he has failed to give good counsel to the dethroned Abodom Regent.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II chastised the Queen mother of Abodom for failing to follow the right procedure before enstooling Nana Osaforo Koto II as a chief.

“If you are given something which does not belong to your ancestors, that is how you go by it,” Opemsuo Osei Tutu II said in Twi

In the case of Nana Yaw Duah, the chief of Aduamoa, Otumfuo accused him of getting himself involved in land matters.

“In all my youthful days, I have been with you and you have taken advantage of this to be swollen headed – Leave the throne.”
