A volunteer group of the New Patriotic Party in the Akan constituency of the Oti Region, consisting of the youth, women’s wing, political friends, former and current executives, have picked up nomination forms for Mr. Rabiu Awal to contest the party’s upcoming parliamentary primaries.

The group expressed their belief in Chairman Awal and his track record, leading to their decision to support him.

The group believes that Mr. Awal has continuously supported the youth and resourced the party during and after the 2016/2020 elections.

They said the party needs a candidate who can galvanize all blocks within the constituency and lead the NPP to a possible victory in the Akan constituency.

After picking the form, the group in a joint statement said they have thoroughly engaged stakeholders in the party including community based groups, market women and community leaders who have all rooted for the constituency chairman, Rabiu Awal, hence the need to make him parliamentary candidate for Akan on NPP’s ticket in next year’s elections.

The election has become necessary following the death of Alhaji Rashid Bawa, former Akan NPP parliamentary candidate, on Thursday, March 14, in Abuja, Nigeria.

“To break the 8, the NPP must put its best foot forward, field strong parliamentary candidate that will increase the presidential votes in Akan and win NPP the seat for the first time” they added.

Mr Rabiu Awal, Chairman of the party in the Constituency has contributed to many success of the party, increased votes in elections, resourced the party’s grassroot, very influential, selfless, a business man, well known, a unifier and a team player in the political space of the constituency and the entire Oti Region.

“We need a solid candidate, a man who’s loved by many and can resource the party with good heart and vision to succeed and continue the good legacies of our great father, Alhaji Rashid Bawa”.  He told Evans Manasseh in an interview
