Ahead of the upcoming 67th Independence Day Celebration on 6th March 2024 in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital, the New Patriotic Party, NPP last Saturday embarked on a massive health walk drawing attention to the event.
The Principal streets of Koforidua were flooded with supporters and sympathizers of the ruling NPP led by the Member of Parliament for the area and Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, Micheal Okyere Baafi and the Regional Chairman, Jeff Konadu Addo.
The walk recorded a massive turnout and was attended by thousands of NPP Supporters and sympathisers including other Members of Parliament, and Ministers of States among others.
The Eastern Regional Chairman of NPP, Jeff Konadu Addo noted that the walk was aimed to keep the party members active towards the upcoming Independence Celebration and also reunite the members to engage in networking among party members.
The New Juaben South MP, Micheal Okyere Baafi, who organized the walk noted that he purposely did that to get the party members reunited, and also to encourage members to keep fit and stay healthy in preparation for entering the active campaign season for the December polls.
He said the Independence Anniversary slated to take place on Wednesday in the Region is the first of its kind hence the need to engage the NPP members to embark on the walk to get active and partake in the celebration.
He told the party members that the main concern of the NPP heading into the 2024 general elections is to stop the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer from winning, adding that despite his respect for former President John Dramani Mahama, he would have wished for a more capable flagbearer from the NDC to face the NPP flagbearer.
According to him, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) can break the 8-year electoral cycle in the 2024 general elections, hence the need to bring all members on board to work together and get more votes for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
He noted that the NPP government and his outfit have undertaken massive developmental projects in the constituency which are visible for everyone to see, which he believes the constituents will consider and vote massively for the NPP.
