Trade Minister and Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa in the Ashant Region, K.T Hammond, has said the NPP caucus in Parliament will cite the Speaker of Parliament for contempt.

According to him, the Speaker did not respect the decision of the court, which stayed his decision to declare the four seats vacant.

“The Speaker is behaving unconstitutionally; he has to respect the Supreme Court,” he said.

He continued, “We will cite him for contempt. Watch the space. We want the decision of the Supreme Court to be disrespected. It is not a question of acknowledgement; it is a question of implementation.

It will be in the interest of Ghanains for the speaker to respect the ruling of the Supreme Court. It is for the speaker to tell the house that his decision has been reverted”.

Speaker of Parliament had earlier adjourned the November 7 sitting sine die because they had no business to do in Parliament.

Also, Members of Parliament for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) did not appear in Parliament.
