Bryan Acheampong, the Minister of Agriculture has beaten a sharp retreat after earlier claiming he won’t declare his choice for NPP flagbearership until after the NPP August 26 Superdelegates primary.

It will be recalled on 8th August 2023, the controversial politician made an appearance on PeaceFM Kokrokoo with Kwame Sefa Kayi where he spoke about the upcoming NPP Primaries.

According to him, he fears his preffered candidate may lose hence he is waiting until after the Superdelegates Primaries before he declares his choice.

“The Superdelegates should decide. Today, my candidate may not win but I will not declare my support until the superdelegates give direction of where we go this August” He told Kwame Sefa Kayi in Twi.

But less than 4 days later, the man who won anx executed a payroll software contract under the NDC John Mahama government has beaten a retreat.

The Abetifi  lawmaker, Bryan Acheampong declared for Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia at Abetifi during the Vice President’s rounds.

It is not clear whether his declaration was genuine or motivated by the pedigree of Senior MPs and stalwarts endorsing Bawumia.

“Here in Abetifi, it is not for me to tell you what to do. As our chairman has said, he will take me to Koforidua to go and vote for Dr. Bawumia. Chairman has his ears on the ground; he has listened to our delegates and he knows their choice”. Bryan Acheampong said.

The NPP Superdelegates Primaries is expected on the 26th August 2023 to select 5 candidates for the main primary on 4th November, 2023.
