NDC’s campaign strategy will collapse when I’m elected flagbearer – Bawumia

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has declared that the campaign strategy of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) will be rendered useless when he is elected presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party for the 2024 General Elections, which will pitch him, essentially, against John Mahama of the NDC.

Dr Bawumia explained that NDC’s tactic of relying on the Volta Region, the five regions of the North and Zongo communities for electoral victory will be neutralised and be of no effect since he finds favour in all these three strongholds of the NDC.

He noted that the NDC’s message to the effect that the NPP is an anti-Northern, anti-Volta Region and anti-Zongo party will be irrelevant when he becomes flagbearer given his background and credentials.

Dr Bawumia made the assertion in his speech to delegates and supporters of the NPP in Bolgatanga on October 31, 2023 as he rounded up his campaign there with a rally.

“The NDC has 3 strongholds in Ghana – Volta Region, the five Northern Regions and the Zongo communities in the South.

When the NDC goes to the Volta Region, they say to them, that the NPP is an Akan party; don’t vote for them. When they come to the North, they come here and they tell us NPP is an Akan party; don’t vote them. Isn’t that what they say? Then when they go to the Zongo communities, they say to them NPP doesn’t like Muslims so don’t vote for them. So if on November 4, the NPP elects Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NDC campaign message would have collapsed. They will have no message,” he explained.

Dr Bawumia took a commanding lead in the first lap of the NPP flagbearership race when he won the Super Delegates Conference election with a landslide. He is expected to win the presidential primary by a large margin.
