In a rebuttal to the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) critique of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) handling of the recent ‘dumsor’ crisis, spokesperson for Bawumia’s Campaign Team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye has asserted that the NDC lacks the moral right to discuss the issue.

Aboagye expressed unbelief at the NDC’s audacity to address ‘dumsor’, a problem that has persisted for 10 months under the NPP’s tenure, compared to the 7-year ordeal endured by Ghanaians during the NDC’s governance.

“I hear all of them stand on the platform and speak about ‘dumsor’, and talk about how ‘dumsor’ is affecting us,” Aboagye stated, “They put us through that for 7 years. Who gave them that effrontery and energy to even disrespect the people of Ghana in this manner?” he quizzed

Highlighting the contrasting approaches of the two parties, Aboagye emphasized the NPP’s commitment to transparency and accountability. He criticized the NDC for allegedly deceiving Ghanaians during their tenure, attributing ‘dumsor’ to force majeure or acts of God while promising to rectify the issue.

“The difference between the NPP and NDC is that we will not come and lie to Ghanaians that the ‘dumsor’ is a force majeure or an act of God,” Aboagye asserted. “That is what they did. We will not do that. We will fix it,” he told Nana Yaa Brefo and Isaac Ekow JB on Yen Nsempa, Onua FM, April 25.

Aboagye denounced their tactics as built upon lies, fabrications, and confidence tricks. He accused the party of perpetuating the same strategies and principles, claiming that their character and nature remain unchanged.

Turning his attention to the NDC’s leadership, Aboagye targeted the flagbearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama and running mate Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman, describing them as experienced in “running the country down,” in terms of unemployment, education, and healthcare.

“Yes, they are experienced,” Aboagye conceded. “They are experienced in running the country down, experienced in ignoring the poor persons in this country, experienced in leaving hundreds of thousands of children in their homes unemployed, experienced in building classroom blocks in a bush, experienced in collapsing our National Health Insurance Scheme. That is the kind of experience they have,” he said.
