The Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who doubles as the Member of the parliamentary vetting committee, Prof Richard Kofi Asiedu has justified why an aspirant was rejected by the committee for submitting his nomination forms late.

He stated that the party has procedures before one can file his nomination including the time of which the embattled aspirant, Mr. Ekow Felix Nkrumah failed to adhere to.

Mr Ekow Felix Nkrumah, a National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate Aspirant for Gomoa Central Constituency of the Central Region has been rejected by the vetting committee of the party.

The committee argued that the aspirant filed his nomination papers Four (4) minutes late and therefore does not qualify to be vetted.

Mr. Ekow Felix Nkrumah on Friday, October 13, 2023, visited the Central Regional NDC Secretariat in Cape Coast with a bus of his supporters for vetting and only to be told that he could not go through the vetting process because he was 4 minutes late during the submission of nomination forms.

Confirming the decision of the committee to the media, the Regional Chairman said during the file of nomination forms at Gomoa Central party office, Ekow Felix Nkrumah was 4 minutes late but due to the party rules and regulations the vetting committee failed to vet him.

He explained that after 5 pm the party cannot receive any nomination forms irrespective of the person’s rank in the party.

Prof Kofi Asiedu appealed to him not to worry since plans are underway to reward him with better position if the party had the opportunity to win power.

“MP position is not the end of the world so there is the need for Kow Safo to exercise patience since the party has better plans for him”, he consoled the disappointed aspirant.
