The immediate past Oti Regional Minister, Joshua Makubu has expressed disappointment over his removal from office.

He said, there has never been any complain about his discharge of duties as the regional minister that might triggered the action by the president.

The Oti Regional Minister was reshuffled by President Akufo-Addo during the 14 February government shake up

“I found it very surprising when the president told me I could not continue with him as the regional minister and his government after the ministerial reshuffle on 14 February.”

The former regional minister was speaking to Asaase News’s Solomon Mensah-Ahiable some weeks after his removal from office.

According to Joshua Makubu, the president has every right to decide who should be part of his government at any point in time hence can not be questioned.

“… I know that I can’t be in office as long as the president is in power and I can leave office anytime the president decides. Being the political head of the region ,I know what is expected of me as the regional minister and I have done everything possible to develop my region, however, the president has the right to decide who works with him,” Makubu.

Makubu said, he is ever ready to help ensure that the party continues its good works and bring more developmental projects to the Ghanaian citizens.

“Oti Region has been one of the most deprived regions hence the need to put the tribal politics aside and come together to develop the region. I have been keen in helping the needy and other youth who needs any assistance.”

“I have introduced many sponsorship programs for the youths in education, law, health and others and I use my own pocket money to support them,” he said.

” I wish that the one who took over from where I left office to continue to ensure that, the development of the Oti region is achieved.”

The former regional minister has played a significant rules in maintaining peace and unity among the residents of Nkwanta south after their tribal clash. Despite his physical challenge, he has been keen in many developmental projects in the Oti region across all the eight districts among others.

Some residents in the Oti Region have applauded the  president for his ministerial reshuffling.

Joshua Makubu expressed his gratitude to the chiefs of the region for their support given him when in office and urged to continue same for development of the Oti Region.

Development of a region can not be done by a single person with his idea but must be a shared responsibility to others hence the removal of Joshua Makubu as Oti Regional Minister will provide an opportunities for others to serve and bring the needed development.

Makubu was replaced by Daniel Machator.
