Kwabena Opoku, a Germany-based Ghanaian man, has taken the mother of his daughter to the Oyerepa FM chapter of the court of public opinion after he supposedly discovered that he is not the father of the 12-year-old girl.
The facts of the case, as disclosed by Kwabena Opoku during a sitting of the court presided over by Auntie Naa on Friday, July 5, 2024, indicate that the woman, whose name was given as Sadia, alleged pregnancy a week after an encounter with Kwabena Opoku, who had returned to the country from Germany.
According to Kwabena Opoku, who struggled to describe the nature of his relationship with the woman, he accepted responsibility and has been performing fatherly duties for the past twelve years.
With life getting better in Bremen, Germany, Kwabena Opoku says he decided to move his daughter from Ghana to Germany to expose her to the niceties of life.
The travel process was successful, and the girl arrived in the country, but a DNA test, occasioned by efforts to secure some residency documents for the daughter, birthed the result that Kwabena Opoku is not the father of the girl.
“I had a baby with Sadia, and I have been taking care of her for the past twelve years. In 2023, I took her to Germany to stay with me. In the course of the documentation process, I was asked to conduct a DNA test on her to prove that indeed I’m the father. The report from the DNA test showed that I’m not the father of the girl. So I brought her back to the mother to show me who the real father is.
“I met the family of the woman and told them exactly what happened, but they disputed it and claimed that the DNA test wasn’t credible. I came to Ghana on June 28 and visited the family so that we could undertake the test. Since then, I have not heard from them.
“I don’t have much time left in Ghana, so we reached out to them again and assured them that I need to travel back to Germany, so if it is the cost of the DNA test that is discouraging them, I’d pay for it, so they should avail themselves and the girl for the test. Sadia is my ex, but we’ve been seeing each other for some time,” he narrated.
His claim was contested by Sadia who insisted that a DNA test will prove that Kwabena Opoku was indeed the father of the child.
Sadia maintained that she was not going to comment on the issue until a DNA test is conducted in Ghana.
