The Kumawu District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. Samuel Addae Agyekum, has criticized former President John Dramani Mahama for his recent comment on Vice President Bawumia’s promise of a brighter future for Ghana.

Speaking to Evans Manasseh in an interview, Mr. Agyekum fires Mahama for his hypocrisy, saying “The 2024 elections will be a battle of ideas, vision, and leadership, Mahama had the audacity to promise a better Ghana in 2016 as president, so why can’t Bawumia promise a brighter future today as vice president? if he (Mahama) is asking Bawumia to relief Ghanaians now or has solutions to the current challenges then Mr Mahama could have solve all our problems in 2016 because he was the president and the main Boss”

He continued, “Mahama’s criticism of Bawumia’s promise is a clear case of double standards. He had his chance to deliver on his promises and the vision he’s promising today, but he failed miserably. Now, he’s trying to dictate what others can and cannot promise?”

Mr. Addae pointed out that Mahama’s 2016 campaign was built on lofty promises, including creating jobs, improving the economy, and enhancing healthcare. “But what did he achieve in his four years as president? Nothing but broken promises and unfulfilled dreams! If elections are won on current legacies and achievments the John Mahama should focus on what he has done in 2012 to 2016 without any new empty promises and visionless policies”

The Kumawu DCE emphasized that Vice President Bawumia, on the other hand, has a track record of delivering on his promises. “Bawumia has been instrumental in implementing policies that have transformed Ghana’s economy and improved the lives of its citizens.”

Mr. Agyekum concluded, “Mahama should focus on his own legacy rather than trying to tear down others. Bawumia has the right to promise a brighter future, and we believe he has the vision and leadership to deliver on that promise!”

The debate highlights the intense political climate in Ghana, with many eager to see which leaders will truly deliver on their promises.
