Former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan has stated that he now feels appreciated and celebrated by the Ghanaian populace, contrary to his initial belief that he was not celebrated enough.

Gyan over the years had expressed his displeasure over the manner with which the public placed value on his personality despite his enormous achievements for the country’s football.

Speaking Wednesday, April 10, 2024, on the Angel Sports Live show hosted by Darius Osei Ember, the former footballer admitted that he now feels valued beyond expectations by the Ghanaian society.

“At first, I thought I wasn’t celebrated enough because I could not understand certain things but at a point in time, I realized that social media was so powerful that anybody at all could disrespect you, but the reality is whenever I’m on the grounds, I feel the love.”

Asamoah Gyan continued: “Once I’m on the grounds … the love is great, so for now, I feel celebrated in society and appreciated.”

The country’s all-time top scorer with 51 goals said the number of people that attended the unveiling of his ‘All Regional Games’ project logo which is yet to be launched is an attestation of how he is fully celebrated in the country now.

“Look, whatever I engaged myself in now, the number of people who graced it alone and support it tells it all …. my recent press conference is a typical example.

“These numbers are purely organic because they show up on such occasions due to the love they have for me,” he explained further.
