Empress Gifty did not hold back in responding to comments about her wild personality, despite being a gospel musician.

She has insisted that her identity as a gospel singer shouldn’t put her in a box, adding that she wants to live freely and genuinely.

Her statements came in response to Serwaa Amihere’s questions about why she doesn’t adopt a more modest style like other gospel artistes.

In an interview on GHOne, Serwaa asked why Empress Gifty usually wears tight-fitting clothes, offers unsolicited advice, and even twerks online, suggesting that such behaviours are not befitting for a gospel musician.

Serwaa also inquired whether Empress Gifty’s husband approves of her online conduct.

Seemingly irked by these perspectives about her, Empress Gifty said she won’t fake her personality just because she is a gospel artiste.

She stated that she will not pretend to be someone she is not or live a fake life like others do, just to go and snatch someone’s husband.

“I am being who I am. I don’t want to pretend and go and snatch someone’s husband. I am Empress; I don’t want to fake. I don’t want to see you and smile while I know I don’t like you. I make sure I get good energy around me, so if you don’t like my energy, then you’re a suspect,” she stated.

When Serwaa pushed further, questioning whether Empress is truly a woman of God, she responded, “I am a woman of God. If you want me to wear a long jalabia and tie a scarf, pretending to be ‘drunk with the Holy Spirit,’ then I’m sorry. I just want to be Empress Gifty. If you love me, you love everything about me.”
