Member of Parliament of Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak, has taken a swipe at Kofi Bentil for asking Ghanaians to give Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia a fair hearing.

The MP says such a claim is hypocritical considering the precious comments the Vice President of IMANI Africa has made about this government in the past.

Kofi Bentil, in a write-up, urged Ghanaians to give Dr. Bawumia a chance to be the country’s next president, as he has a lot to offer.

He asserted that the Vice President does not have so many powers to take policy decisions and hence cannot be blamed for the challenges confronting us.

“Every man deserves a fair hearing. We gave President Mahama a chance to be President, the least we can do is give Dr Bawumia a fair and objective hearing. He is not President, and has never been President! I have no doubt he will be better! The VP position in Ghana, apart from standing in when the president is away (and he can’t make any serious decisions), is totally powerless! He is like an advisor! There’s a good reason Kwame Nkrumah refused to have a Vice President!” Mr. Bentil argued.

Reacting to this through a post on X, Dr. Apaak asked Kofi Bentil to stop insulting the sensibilities of Ghanaians.

He said that the average voter is now more discerning to make informed choices and to read through the agenda he is setting.

He said Mr. Bentil could not extricate the Vice President from the mess caused by this administration.

He added that Dr. Bawumia is part of the calamitous record of this incompetent government.

He also attached a post Mr. Bentil had posted on X in which he criticised the government for the banking sector’s collapse to point out how Mr. Bentil is a hypocrite.

“Does Kofi Bentil think anyone takes him seriously in his futile attempt to extricate DMB from the calamitous record of a government DMB was, and remains a member of? We don’t wash our faces upwards, bro!”
