There are chocolate processing companies in Ghana mostly situated in the Free zones enclave who dominantly produces for export, said Fiifi Boafo – Public Affairs Manager, Cocobod.

Their production process requires different recipes hence the need to have other taste of cocoa mixed with the ones produced in Ghana.

This is why they requested to purchase cocoa from other countries and this arrangement has been in existence since 2001.

Cocoa has different flavors and for that companies order for different varieties based on their required recipes.

But then the authority lies on Cocobod to give these companies the permission to go into such businesses and so this explanation debunks all the allegations of Ghana importing Cocoa from other countries.
