The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the immediate revocation of all recent appointments and recruitments of teaching and non-teaching staff who have not yet been placed on the payroll.
A statement signed by the Acting Director-General of GES, Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, indicated that the decision follows a directive from the Chief of Staff at the Office of the President.
The move is part of efforts to ensure strict adherence to government policies regarding employment within the education sector.
“All Regional, District, Municipal, and Metropolitan Directors are to ensure that this directive is strictly followed,” the statement read.
It further assured that any additional directives on the matter would be communicated in due course.
The notice has been copied to key officials, including the Minister and Deputy Minister of Education, the Chief Director of the Ministry of Education, and senior GES officials, signaling the urgency and high-level approval of the decision.
Chief of Staff Julius Debrah revoked all appointments and recruitments made into the Public Service after December 7, 2024.
In a confidential letter leaked online, Julius Debrah directed all heads of government institutions, to comply with the directive.
