The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) led by Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyabeng has been ordered by the High Court in Accra to return seized funds of former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah to her within 72 hours.

The OSP is also to unfreeze the bank accounts of the former Minister.

This was after the OSP on Thursday, January 25, withdrew its originating motion seeking Confirmation Orders for seizure and freeze of former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah.

As a result to the withdrawal, the OSP also dropped the criminal charge against the former Sanitation Minister after meeting the judge and Cecilia Dapaah and legal team in chambers.

In Court on Thursday, January 25, Justice Nana Brew had indicated he was hearing the case in open Court for the OSP to see the “urgency of the case.”

“I want you to see the urgency of this case, So I want to do the case here (open court),” Justice Nana Brew stated.

But, after requesting to approach the bench and after engaging the judge briefly tighter with legal team of Cecilia Abena Dapaah and her husband, the judge agreed to meet parties in chambers.

It was after the engagement that it came out that, the OSP has withdrawn the motion and also dropped the charge sheet against Cecilia Dapaah.

EIB Network’s Legal Affairs Correspondent, Murtala Inusah who was in court reports that, both Cecilia Dapaah, her husband and Special Prosecutor were present.
