The Oti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Evans Yaw Dapaah, has expressed his thoughts on the running mate choice for the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP),  Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, ahead of the general elections.

Mr Dapaah emphasized that there is significant support among women groups, expects and party base for a female candidate to join the 2024 ticket. He believed there are equally good and competent gentle men and women who can partner with Dr Bawumia to execute the “break the 8 agenda but none fit the bill better than Akosua Frema Opare if only the Flagbearer will consider a female running mate

“I’ve heard various names mentioned, However, from the grassroots perspective, If Dr Bawmia will settle on a female running mate none fit the bill better than Akosua Frema Opare”

According to him, the Chief of Staff , Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, would be a good fit for the running mate position due to the experience she has garnered in the political system.

He also noted that Chief of Staff ‘s rich educational background, coupled with her exploits in the political system, will form a good partnership with Dr Bawumia to win the 2024 general elections for the ruling party.

Speaking in an interview with Evans Manasseh during the vice president’s visit to the Oti Region, asked, “What’s your take on the call for Dr. Bawumia to present a female as running mate?”

Responding, Evans Dapaah, the Oti Regional Chairman Of the NPP said “NPP have the Men and Women to move Ghana forward, it’s only the Flagbearer who knows his best per but if I should limit myself to your question Then he should select our Chief of Staff, Her extensive experience and strategic positioning within the political landscape made her a formidable candidate for the high office of Vice-President, she is so intelligent, like fire. She is a wise person, and she is learned too.

Highlighting her qualifications, Dapaah noted that Madam Opare has held several high-profile positions, including Member of Parliament, Minister of State, and currently, Chief of Staff. “Her extensive experience within the NPP and her service under former President Kufuor as both a Minister and MP make her exceptionally knowledgeable and capable, her interpersonal skills and has been marvellous in the dispensation of her mandate as the Chief of Staff of this Republic” he stated.

He maintained that the Chief of Staff has exhibited humility, selflessness and has uphold the integrity of her position

The Chairman compared Madam Opare’s qualifications with those of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s female running mate Prof. Jane Naaana Opoku-Agyemang, asserting that Frema Opare’s political maturity and experience are far superior. “The NDC has chosen a female running mate, but there is a vast difference when you compare her to Akosua Frema Opare. The NDC candidate lacks the same political intellect and maturity,” he argued.

He said the NPP is ever ready to break the 8 with any candidate Dr Bawumia will Name as his running mate irrespective of the gender “but if he should go for the call of the masses to settle on a female, the I think Frema Opare is the best per”
