Bawumia Cannot Be Blamed For NPP’s Defeat – Adwoa Safo – GHANAXPRESS

In anticipation of the Prof. Oquaye report investigating the causes of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) defeat in the 2024 general election, a former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Ms Sarah Adwoa Safo has boldly stated that former President Vice Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia cannot be blamed for the party’s massive defeat.

NPP is on fact finnding mission with the intention of regrouping and rebuilding the party.

Accordingly, prominent members of the party have resolved to share their opinions and insights on the underlying reasons for the occurrence and propose strategies to enhance their prospects in future elections.

The former MP for Dome Kwabenya, Ms Adwoa Safo, when asked in a one-on-one interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosiisen radio show about her belief in the NPP’s candidate in the 2024 presidential election, she affirmed her faith in him and expressed her unwavering support for Dr. Bawumia’s choice as a right choice made by the party, asserting also that he remains the right one.

She acknowledged the neglect of the party’s base in the Ashanti region, particularly in terms of road infrastructure, as a significant contributing factor to the poor performance in the region.

Ms. Adwoa Safo explained that this neglect allowed the NDC to secure four parliamentary seats in the region during the 2024 general elections. However, she firmly believes that Dr. Bawumia can not be held responsible for the NPP’s loss in the 2024 elections.
