The Ghana Police Service has initiated an investigation into the shooting of three individuals by suspect Osman Majeed at Barniekrom, near Mankranso in the Ahafo Ano South West District of the Ashanti Region.

On Tuesday, July 2, 2024, the Police received reports that the suspect had shot three people, alleging they were part of a group that had come to attack him.

A police team promptly visited the scene, recovering the bodies of the three deceased persons and transporting them to the morgue for preservation and autopsy.

Exhibits retrieved from the scene included one motorbike, eight spent cartridges, and four cutlasses.

In a statement, the Police disclosed that efforts are underway to locate suspect Osman Majeed, who is currently at large.

“We wish to urge members of the community to remain calm as the investigation into the incident continues. We are committed to apprehending the perpetrator and ensuring justice is served,” the statement read.

But the Assemblyman for the area, Kingsley Asare also provided additional details to dailymailgh.com indicating that the suspect is a fetish priest.

“The suspect is a fetish priest and was being pursued by a group of gunmen from Tepa and on reaching Barniekrom, gunshots were heard. The town folks rushed to the scene and found the bodies of the deceased prompting police action.

It is still not clear what triggered this incident, and this is the first time it has occurred. The Regional Commander led a team here and the crime scene has been managed. The bodies have been deposited at the morgue”, he revealed.
