Allegation of NDC Planning Election Violence in 2024 – Obiri Boahen Calls for Military Deployment

Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen, former deputy general secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has reiterated his plea to the government to deploy troops across the country’s streets two weeks ahead of the December 7 general election.

Boahen alleges that the NDC is scheming to instigate violence during the 2024 elections, asserting their readiness for such acts.

Speaking on a Kumasi-based radio station, Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen urged the government to deploy heavily armed soldiers to forestall any potential unrest.

In response to Defense Minister Dominic Nitiwul’s caution against involving the military in partisan politics and inciting public sentiment, Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen retorted that the military’s role is vital given the NDC’s historical association with the AFRC and PNDC regimes, suggesting a propensity for election-related violence.

He cautioned NPP supporters not to underestimate the challenges posed by the upcoming elections and to remain vigilant against the NDC’s purported intentions.
