Reports that a police officer by name Constable David Gbati was shot dead by a senior officer after an argument, has been denied with revelations that the shooter, minutes before the incident, had rather drank a concussion believed to be a mixture of weed and alcohol.

A voice note of another officer who claimed knowledge of the incident, shortly, after the senior officer took the substance named “Laka”, ASP Frank Nsiah, became high and started acting abnormally, including threatening to shoot and kill his subordinates with whom he was in a police vehicle with on their way to an operation.

ASP Frank Nsiah, who sat in front of the car, according to the voice note threatened to shoot and kill the driver.

Constable David Gbati who was in the bucket of the police operation vehicle was said to have gotten down and walked to the front of the car, but was immediately shot by the ASP upon seeing him.

The driver of the vehicle was said to have drawn in the senior official in a fight and figured out how to incapacitate him yet got nibbled in the process when his center finger wound up in the mouth of the senior official who had needed to kill him too.

The cops were supposed to be headed to Awaso in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District in the Western North Locale on Friday night when the occurrence happened.

ASP Plain Nsiah, is supposed to be the top of the Western North Territorial Police Insight Unit (PIU). Different reports by news.com were that he was affected by liquor.

He, then, picked a contention with his subordinates in the Ghana Police Administration vehicle, bringing about the shooting of Constable Gbati.

The body of the departed official, has been saved at the Sefwi Wiawso Government Emergency clinic mortuary, while ASP Candid Nsiah, has been kept at the Sefwi Bekwai Police headquarters for additional examinations.

On Saturday, the Ghana Police Administration, reported that it had captured a senior cop who purportedly shot and killed a police constable at Bibiani in the Western North Locale on Friday, May 5, 2023.

According to the police, the senior police officer is in its custody and has commenced an investigation into events that led to the shooting.

The police in a statement issued on Saturday, May 6, 2023, indicated that the Inspector General of Police (IGP), George Akufo-Dampare, has dispatched two teams: one to look into the matter and the other to commiserate with the family of the deceased police officer.

“Police have commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a Police Constable in the Western North Region on 5th May 2023. The Constable met his untimely death when he was allegedly shot by one of his senior colleagues of the Western North Regional Police Command when they were returning from an operation last night. The victim was rushed to the hospital for medical attention but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead on arrival.

“Immediately after the incident occurred, the Inspector-General of Police dispatched a team which left Accra last night and arrived in the Region in the early hours of today to assess the situation and interact with the personnel. The team was led by Commissioner of Police Mrs Habiba Twumasi Sarpong, Director-General/Welfare.

“The Inspector-General of Police this morning dispatched another team of Police Management Board members led by Commissioner of Police Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, Director-General/Administration, to visit the family of the deceased and formally notify them of his passing, commiserate with them and also assure them of a thorough investigation into the incident,” parts of the statement by the police read.
