Africa Is Proud Of Ghana’s Progress In TVET Education – Commission for TVET Director General

Africa is beaming with pride over Ghana’s pioneering efforts in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)

According to Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah, Director-General of the Commission for TVET (CTVET), the continent is thrilled about Ghana’s bold direction in TVET.

This enthusiasm was palpable during the maiden Africa Skills Week, held in Accra which brought together policymakers, industry leaders, educators, and youth from across Africa.

He said the government’s commitment to TVET has been unwavering, with significant investments in infrastructure, curriculum reforms, and capacity building for instructors.

Dr Kyei noted that government has constructed modern TVET centers, rolled out the Competency-Based Training (CBT) system, and established Sector Skills Bodies (SSBs) to ensure training aligns with industry needs.

These initiatives have positioned Ghana as a leader in TVET delivery in Africa.

“In fact Africa is very proud of Ghana’s progress in TVET education, all the policies laid out during the conference has been acknowledged. Ghana has shown the kind of leadership we should champion and support”

Dr. Asamoah emphasized that TVET is not just a means to combat youth unemployment but also a catalyst for industrialization, innovation, and global competitiveness

He said Ghana is poised to reap the benefits of its forward-thinking TVET strategy.

As Africa looks to Ghana as a model for TVET excellence, the continent is confident that this direction will yield a skilled, innovative, and entrepreneurial workforce, driving sustainable development and economic resilience.

Dr Fred Kyei credited the NPP government for such bold decision.
