Some basic school students in Adeiso, in the Upper West District of the Eastern Region, have abandoned school and are currently on the hunt for red-headed male lizards.
Details emerging indicated that the red-headed lizards are now in high demand, hence the students are now hunting for them to sell to potential buyers.
Reporting from the area on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 86.5FM, our reporter Prince Collins Bening said those buying the lizards for the students GHC20 for one.
According to Prince Collins Bening, the lizards are used by ritualists to perform money rituals and other forms of rituals for people who need financial favours and progress in life and business.
He also added that the lizards are potent for ‘FOR GIRLS’, a black magic used to woo girls.
Some of the students who spoke to our reporter said that hunting for red-headed lizards was lucrative and provided them with money to fend for themselves.
He said several of the students complained that their parents are unable to provide for their needs due to financial challenges, hence the reason for them to use the opportunity to hunt for the lizards and sell them to those I tested in them.
“When you get in Adeiso today, numerous students have left school to seek for red-headed lizards. The pupils told me that their parents are unable to provide for them, so they chose to take advantage of these opportunities to earn money. A lizard costs Ghc 20. They strike the lizards with sticks or stones before grabbing and selling them to a Mawuli. “The lizards are used for a variety of ritual purposes,” he explained.
