There is currently tension in Wasa Dompoase in the Amenfi West Distrrict of the Western North Region of Ghana
According to MyNewsGh.com’s source in the area, residents have clashed with personnel of the Ghana Police Service after Eight(8) people were arrested for torching the houses of suspected killers.
It is that the eight people who have been arrested were part of protests against a move by the police to protect people they believe had killed an indigene.
A resident of the area who spoke to MyNewsGh.com in an interview said, “Kwame Gyasi was beaten to death by the people. They are six in number and are from the north of the country. They took to their heels after committing this heinous crime. After his body was found, the youth decided to take matters into their own hands by burning down their house. After that, we decided to demonstrate, but the police here had problems with that.
The police arrested one of us, and so we decided to face them, but they sprayed pepper into our eyes. So everyone left, but they were able to arrest some of our boys. We did not come with any weapons, but the police started attacking us with guns. We will be here until they release our people,” he said.
He continued, “We will go house to house and fish out all the people from the north of Ghana from this town because we cannot sit here for people to come from their hometown and kill people here”.
