The Member of Parliament for Mpraeso Constituency, Hon. Davis Opoku has said it will be suicidal for Hon. Alan Kyerematen to pursue his political ambition by going into the 2024 election as an independent candidate.

Hon. Davis Opoku a staunch member of Kyerematen’s campaign team disclosed on the Wontumi Morning Show that no member is bigger than the New Patriotic Party and for that reason; the decision of the party must always be respected no matter the outcome of an internal election.

Shortly after the Special Delegates Conference, Hon. Alan Kyerematen observed that after carefully analysing the results, he has come to a conclusion that the process was strategically and tactically skewed in favour of one particular aspirant.

He announced that he was withdrawing from the process leading to many speculate that he intends to contest as an independent candidate in the 2024 general elections.

“In light of the foregoing, I wish to confirm that I am honourably withdrawing from the process that will lead to the Presidential Primaries to be held on the 4th of November 2023. In the next upcoming weeks, I will provide an indication of the role that I will play in politics in Ghana, after consultations with my family and other well-wishers, various stakeholders and interest groups.”

But Hon. Davis Opoku reiterated that it will be “suicidal” for Hon. Alan Kyerematen to contest as an independent candidate following his disappointing performance in the just ended NPP Special Delegates Conference.
