On Wednesday, 2nd August 2023, GEM Ghana collaborated with HIVE to hold a Menstrual Hygiene Management Education and Donation of Sanitary Pads to adolescent Girls of the Sang Girls Model Junior High School under the Mion District. We believe in the power of education and empowerment to transform lives. One of the critical areas where education and support are essential is in menstrual hygiene management for adolescent girls. It is our unwavering commitment to ensure that every girl has access to the knowledge, resources, and support necessary to manage menstruation with dignity and confidence.

Menstrual Hygiene Management Education is not just about imparting knowledge; it is about breaking the silence, erasing taboos, and fostering an environment where girls can openly discuss their needs and concerns. By providing comprehensive education about menstruation, we empower girls to make informed choices about their health and well-being. We believe that when girls understand their bodies and the natural processes they go through, they can navigate adolescence with confidence and self-assuredness.

However, education alone is not enough. Lack of access to sanitary products can be a significant barrier to menstrual hygiene. Far too many girls face the challenge of managing menstruation without proper resources, leading to health risks, missed educational opportunities, and feelings of shame.

This is why, alongside education, we are dedicated to providing sanitary products to adolescent girls who need them. By donating sanitary products, we ensure that girls can manage their periods hygienically, attend school without interruptions, and participate in daily activities without fear.

Our efforts go beyond addressing immediate needs; they encompass the broader goal of creating a world where girls’ potential is not hindered by menstruation. By educating girls, families, schools, and communities about the importance of menstrual hygiene, we contribute to a more inclusive, informed, and equal society.

We extend our gratitude to our partner, HIVE, donors, sponsors and supporters who share in our vision and contributed hugely towards carrying out this essential activity.

Together, we are making a lasting impact on the lives of adolescent Girls, enabling them to reach their full potential. We are calling for more support to help us organize more of such activities in rural Junior High Schools across Ghana.

As we continue our journey, we remain committed to upholding the dignity and well-being of every Girl and young Woman across the world.

Through Menstrual Hygiene Management Education and the Donation of Sanitary Pads, we stand united in our mission to empower Girls, promote gender equality, and build a brighter future for all.
