Stalwart of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dan Botwe has thrown his weight behind Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia he seeks to be the party’s lagbearer for the 2024 General Elections.

Dan Botwe, who is best known for his service as General Secretary of the party, admonished delegates to vote Dr Bawumia because he is the strategic candidate to secure the NPP’s future.

Mr Botwe made the comments when Dr Bawumia visited the Okere Constituency in the Eastern Region as part of his interactions with the people of the area ahead of the NPP’s Special Delegates Conference scheduled for August 26, 2023.

“Since we started this flagbearership campaign, I have not spoken. But today I will speak. I was elected General Secretary of the NPP 25 years ago. I have had experience working under several stalwarts of the Party. I know the NPP very well. I know very well all the 10 people contesting. But I am here at Okere saying this. Anyone who knows me know that I speak the truth and you cannot influence me with anything.

I love all the aspirants, but I love the NPP more. My friends in the NPP, if we look at what is happening in Ghana and NPP now, we are looking into the future. Based on my knowledge of the Party and judging from what is happening, I want to say and ask all of you to go and vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. We have to be very strategic as a party in order to win 2024 and the best strategic decision is to elect Vice President Bawumia as our flagbearer” he argued.

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is one of ten aspirants for the flagbearer position of the party. He enjoys overwhelming support from the rank and file of the party, with many heavyweights of the party declaring support for his candidature.

He is expected to be part of the five aspirants to contest in the National Delegates Conference after the Special Delegates Conference trims the number from ten to five on August 26, 2023.
