National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for South Dayi Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor has accused the Tema Development Company ( TDC) of giving a ‘sweetheart deal’ to Sentuo Company Limited, a company managed by one Alice Ofori-Atta.
Mr Dafeamekpor, in a tweet, said that leasing 95.31 acres of land in the Tema Industrial Area at GHC 228k per year for 60 years is too good a deal.
He recalled how the same company had earlier been given tax exemptions to the tune of $261 million by Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
While sharing the agreement between the Tema Development Company (TDC) and Sentuo Company Limited, he tweeted”Another Sweet Heart deal for this Sentuo Co.TDC led by Alice Ofori-Atta grants 95.31 acres of Tema Industrial land, the size of a township, to this Sentuo Co for a paltry Ground Rent of Ghc228k for 60 yrs. Ken Ofori-Atta also gave this Co $261m in Tax Exemption. Do u see what I c?”
Neither TDC nor Sentuo Co. has yet officially reacted to the comments of the legislator. But some social media users have defended the deal as a good one to engender entrepreneurship and reduce unemployment.
